ABSTRACT

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the governments of different countries adopted restrictions, such as locking down cities and restricting travel and social contact. Online health communities (OHCs) with specialized physicians have become an important way for the elderly to access health information and social support, which has expanded their use since the outbreak. This paper examines the factors influencing elderly people's behavior in terms of the continuous use of OHCs from a social support perspective to understand the impact of public health emergencies. Research collected data from March to April 2019, February 2020, and August 2021 in China. A total of 189 samples were collected and analyzed by using SmartPLS. The results show that (1) social support to the elderly during different stages has different influences on their sense of community and (2) the influence of the sense of community on the intention to continuously use OHCs also seems to change over time. The results of this study provide important implications for research and practice related to both OHCs and COVID-19. © 2022 IGI Global. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

Technology played a central role during the pandemic for communications and services. It was also touted as a potential solution to control the spread of COVID-19 via proximity tracing applications, also known as contact tracing (CT) apps worldwide. In non-mandated settings, however, these apps did not attain popularity. Privacy concerns were highlighted as one reason. We explored how family perceptions of CT apps can affect the family's use of such apps. We surveyed parent-teen dyads twice over a 5-month period. We analyzed parent-teen perceptions of each other's intentions and use of CT apps at time 1 and 2, exploring changes over time. Parents' use intentions were influenced by their and their teens' perceptions of the benefits but not privacy concerns. Teen intentions were influenced by their own perceptions of benefits, not their parent's, and their parent's concerns for the family. Intentions always influenced usage, including intentions at time 1 influencing use at time 2, demonstrating a longitudinal effect of intentions on usage existed for parents and teens. © 2022 IEEE Computer Society. ABSTRACT

Initiatives for marine conservation are funded by revenue from marine sites. However, the emergence of COVID-19 has restricted travelling, thus leading to decreased revenue and weakening conservation efforts. Virtual reality technology to support marine conservation efforts is explored as it allows users to experience marine sites, without having to be there physically. This study examines factors influencing users' desire to adopt virtual reality technology in marine ecotourism. With the integration of Stimulus-Organism-Response framework and three behavioural theories (i.e. health belief model, attitude, and eTrust), a hypothetical model was constructed to investigate consumers' intention to adopt virtual reality technology in marine ecotourism amidst the pandemic. The data were analysed and interpreted using structural equation modelling after 451 survey responses were obtained via an online questionnaire. Outcome expectation, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, self-efficacy, and cues to action exhibit significant positive effects on attitude towards virtual reality technology in marine ecotourism. Consequently, attitude has a direct and indirect influence on use intention via eTrust. Post hoc analysis revealed that self-efficacy has a direct impact on eTrust and use intention. Total effect analysis further concluded that attitude has the greatest influence on use intention of virtual reality technology in marine ecotourism. This research contributes to the existing literature by utilizing health belief factors to explain use intention of technology towards marine conservation efforts. Recommendations including policy formulation and marketing initiatives were generated for marine ecotourism operators and policymakers. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

ABSTRACT

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the use of mobile applications is increasing in coffee shops as activities that have been conducted face-to-face are being carried out non-face-to-face. The purpose of this paper is to make strategic suggestions to positively improve the continuous use intention of coffee shop mobile applications by checking the effect of the expanded integrated technology acceptance model and online review. An online survey was conducted on mobile and statistical analysis used the PLS structural equation model. As a result, it is expected that the satisfaction with the use of coffee shop applications and the influence of online reviews in customer experience will recognize positive values, affect the intention to continue using them © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, governments worldwide use artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and other technologies to control the spread of the epidemic. These measures significantly improve the efficiency of virus tracking. Nevertheless, such digital defences have also raised concerns about privacy leaks. Privacy concerns and use intention have been studied in several areas in the existing literature, but few have been explored in-depth based on epidemic prevention. Therefore, this paper focuses on the background of the novel coronavirus epidemic and constructs a structural equation model based on the theory of privacy concern and technology acceptance model. The research studies the influence of privacy concerns, perceived risk, and other factors on users’ willingness to use new technologies. Based on 132 samples, the results show that privacy concerns significantly impact perceived risk. Perceived trust has significant positive impacts on self-disclosure intention. This study discusses individual self-disclosure intention in the field of public security from multiple perspectives. The research results extend the relevant theories on adopting and using emerging technologies. This study provides ideas on how to alleviate residents' privacy concerns in practice and helps government departments to carry out better prevention work. © 2022 CURRAN-CONFERENCE. ABSTRACT

The purpose of the research was to establish the influence of the factors in knowledge management in the acceptance of M-learning in university students in times of covid-19. The study consisted of two stages;the first was an exploratory factor analysis, which allowed the instrument to be validated and homologated. The second stage consisted of carrying out a confirmatory analysis by validating a structural model based on variances called modelling of structural equations of partial minimum squares PLS-SEM, whose results determined that the most influential factors in the application of knowledge are perceived ease of use, knowledge sharing, and perceived utility of the model (TAM);not like this, the intention of behavioural use, that does not influence the application of knowledge. This hypothesis would not be tested regarding the level of influence that the application of knowledge would have on the actual use of the system. The research was carried out with 150 students from a private university in Peru. © 2022 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved.
